Class Description

China is a country with a rich cultural heritage, encompassing 56 ethnic groups. In addition to the indigenous groups, there are many migrant and neighboring ethnicities. For example, the Dai people share cultural roots with the ethnic groups in Thailand, the Korean ethnic group has migrated from the Korean Peninsula, and the Mongols are found in regions bordering Mongolia. These groups have their own unique dance cultures, which also show similarities or mutual influences in their dance forms.
This semester, we will use our bodies to experience and appreciate the dance styles and cultural expressions of these diverse ethnic groups.

Learning Outcomes
