The practical training fee is required by UT Dallas F-1 students in order to apply for Optional Practical Training (OPT) or an Optional Practical Training (OPT) extension. This is in addition to the application fees required by the U.S. government.
1. Be sure that you meet the OPT or OPT extension eligibility requirements and that you understand the requirements and restrictions associated with OPT before paying this fee. You can find that information at: www.utdallas.edu/isso/opt or www.utdallas.edu/ic/isso/opt-extension/.
2. Pay the Practical Training Fee.
If you are applying for OPT after graduating from your program, select “Post-Completion OPT.” If you are applying for the 24-month STEM OPT Extension, select “STEM OPT Extension.” If you’re not sure which fee to select, check with the ISSO before paying the fee. Paying the incorrect fee could delay your application.
3. Submit your OPT or OPT extension application to the International Student Services Office (ISSO). Processing times may be found here: www.utdallas.edu/ic/isso/processing-times/.
